3 Kdramas You Should Be Watching

안녕하세요 (Annyeonghaseyo) – That’s “Hello!” in Hangul (Korean.)

Thinking about changing up your television habits a bit and checking out a bit of Kdrama? Well, here are three dramas you should definitely check out.

Descendants of the Sun
Descendants of the Sun

1| Descendants of the Sun – To say that I adore this drama is a huge understatement. Not only is it the first drama that Song Joong Ki has starred in since completing his mandatory military service, but it also has a very interesting story line.

Shi-Jin (Song Joong-Ki) is the captain of the special forces. He catches a motorcycle thief with Sergeant Major Dae-Young (Jin Goo). The thief is injured during his capture and is sent to the hospital. Dae-Young realises his cellphone was stolen by the thief and goes to the hospital to retrieve his cellphone. In the emergency room, Shi-Jin meets Dr. Mo-Yeon (Song Hye-Kyo) for the first time. He falls in love with her immediately. Mo-Yeon mistakenly assumes Shi-Jin is part of thief’s criminal gang. He proves to her that he is a soldier with the help of army doctor Myeong-Joo (Kim Ji-Won). – Asian Wiki

… and that’s just how the meet for the first time. At 6 episodes in, this drama just keeps getting better. Want to check it out? It airs on Wednesday/Thursdays @ 10pm in Korea and is usually subbed and up on the Viki app by the the evening.

Please Come Back, Mister

2| Please Come Back, Mister – I was on the fence about trying out this drama, but after watching the first episode it had me in a fit of giggles. I just love the humorous parts of this drama, and look forward to seeing how the characters will end up.

A man is worked to death, but he comes back to the living world in the attractive body of another man for a limited amount of time. Lee Hae-Joon (Rain) is a perfect man with good looking appearance. He works as a section chief in the women’s apparel section at a department store. His body is actually possessed by the spirit of Kim Young-Soo (Kim In-Kwon) who was worked to death. Hong Nan (Oh Yeon-Seo) is a beautiful woman, but her spirit is possessed by tough guy (Kim Su-Ro). Shin Da-Hye (Lee Min-Jung) is a beautiful housewife, but her husband suddenly dies. She falls into a love triangle with Lee Hae-Joon and a promising store employee (Yoon Park). – AsainWiki

This drama airs on Wednesdays/Thursdays in South Korea and can be seen on both the Viki and Dramafever app. (I usually go with whoever has it subbed the quickest…)

Goodbye, Mr. Black
Goodbye, Mr. Black

3| Goodbye, Mr. Black – This drama premiered last week, and it’s got my hooked. I haven’t seen Moon Chae Won in a drama since Good Doctor, and Lee Jin-Wook starred in the second Kdrama I watched, Nine-Nine Time Travels.

Cha Ji-Won (Lee Jin-Wook) is a UDT officer of the Navy Special Operations Force. He is positive and has personal charm, but he falls into a desperate situation due to a friend’s betrayal. He goes through numerous life or death situations. Cha Ji-Won then enters into a fake marriage with Swan (Moon Chae-Won) to hide his identity. Through the bright persona of Swan, Cha Ji-Won falls in love and regains his trust of others. – AsianWiki

This drama premieres on Wednesday, March 16th in South Korea and will have new episodes available each Wednesday/Thursday on the Viki app.

Stay tuned for my next Kdrama update coming next month.
