Aiken Summer Trip: Day 1

Sunday July 21st

We arrived in Aiken shortly before our brunch reservation, so we decided to drive around a bit. (Did you know that Aiken finally has a Fresh Market?)

By the time we got back to the hotel to check in, I was ready to sit down and chill for awhile. (Who knew 2+ hours of straight driving could be so exhausting?)

My mom started off with the soup.

After brunch we headed up to the room to see how everything looked…

We were in room 208, directly below the room we were in last time. It was a nice room with a large bathroom and a comfy roll away bed for me just beside the shuttered windows.

At 2:30 we left for the Aiken Community Playhouse.

We were in the small ‘black box’ theater this time.  There was about 50 of us there and I was the youngest person in the room! That being said, I have to say that ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ beat ‘The Cemetery Club’ hands down. Both the plot and the acting in the first play were far above and beyond (even though the larger theater was freezing that evening.)

Exhausted we headed back to the room and ordered some room service to enjoy.

  • Tomato White Bean Soup (for mum, she loved it at breakfast so why not have it again)
  • Guacamole w/ Blue Corn Chips (revolutionary)
  • Asian Meatballs (I’m gonna need that recipe!)
  • Fries (since I’m very good about not having them, except while on vacation)
  • Apricot Tart
  • (2) Ginger Ales

The amazing meal with a perfect end to the day… Stay tuned for Day 2…
