An Artsy Evening: Shain Gallery Welcomes Josh Brown

This Friday evening we headed to Selwyn Ave to attend the art reception at Shain Gallery. Since we had an hour to ‘kill’ before the opening, we decided to stop in Nolen’s Kitchen to see the updated look, and get a little dinner.┬áThe Souvlaki was delicious!

At a few minutes after six we decided to head into the Shain Gallery. The small gallery was already filling up and the artist was starting to mingle with the guests.

My fellow art lovers...
My fellow art lovers…

Since this was my first art ‘opening’ event, I was a little nervous (pictures, no pictures, how long should I stay… you know the usual.) But after a few minutes I finally started to relax and take in the art.

I love the use of color in the paintings, and wide brush strokes used in the ostrich paintings. Of the ostrich paintings I think one with the bright pink background was my favorite. I also enjoyed the giraffes and the zebras.

One painting I didn’t get a picture of… the Meerkats. So hopefully I’ll make it over to the Shain Gallery again before the exhibit ends.

What to see the exhibit for yourself? It’s open from August 2nd-23rd.
