An Artsy Saturday in the City | Arts & Culture

This Saturday the weather was simply gorgeous. Lovely sunny skies and much cooler temperatures than we’ve been dealing with here in the South this summer. Since all three of the Charlotte galleries that are on our must visit list were having new artwork on display, we decided why not make a day of it?

Our first gallery of the day was the Lark & Key. You can see their exhibition Myth Makers, now through October 29th. I have to admit that I was the most excited to see the latest works by Duy Huynh (the co-owner of the gallery.)

Next up on our Saturday Art Gallery Crawl was the Hidell Brooks Gallery. The art exhibit on display are works by artist David Kroll. I was very excited about the ‘subject’ of his works. Koi and bunnies. Who wouldn’t love it?

After our first two galleries, it was time for a bit of lunch. With Luciano’s right down the way from Hidell Brooks it was the obvious choice. I just love how we have the place almost to ourselves on a Saturday at lunch.

After our extremely delicious lunch we headed over to Selwyn Ave to see our final art gallery of the day, the Shain Gallery. They’d had an opening the night before where you could meet the artist, Andy Braitman, but we sometimes like to visit the day after an event. (The last one was seriously packed!)

If you’re ever in the Charlotte area, these are definitely my top three gallery recommendations. You’ll be sure to find something that will inspire the art lover in yourself.

I’ve never been to Charlotte, but you’ve got me quite impressed with the art scene there! Those David Kroll koi fish have a very photo-realistic quality. And that pizza looks pretty yum, too!
