Carolina’s Aviation Museum Gala – March 15th

Last Friday night I headed home to pick up my grandfather for the Carolina’s Aviation Museum Gala. It’s an annual expression of gratitude to all the volunteers who help bring so much to the museum whether it’s restoration, working in the gift shop, or taking pictures at the many exciting events held there.

Over the past year the museum has undergone an amazing transformation. So when I walked in that evening I got chill bumps (and not just because I was cold, but because it is just so amazing.)

My grandfather, the official photographer at the museum, brought me along for the evening and I was so glad that he did. You can see several of his photos throughout the museum, and he brought along his camera to take pictures of the event.

I took a walk around while the other guests were arriving because I wanted to try my iPhone out...

A few other’s had the same idea I did… taking in the sights…

My grandfather has met both Sully and Jeff when they were at the unveiling, and proudly displays the picture of him standing with Sully.

I thought the table decor was very fitting.

Of course the highlight of the evening was when my grandfather won the Jeff Skiles award for all of his hard work. He is always willing to take pictures at a moments notice, and has so many wonderful stories to tell me about all the people he gets to meet.

I snapped a photo of him accepting the award, and then snapped one of my own... I was so excited, and so was he.
