Yes, I’m epically behind in posting this…

Davidson, North Carolina is starting to feel like a little home away from home. We love to go up to the Davidson Farmers Market (that’s held every Saturday till noon) and explore the town a bit. So, when the opportunity came to attend the last Concert on the Green for the season (with the Davidson College Symphony and Jazz Band) we’re ready to go.

First up, a pedi-cab ride from the innkeeper at the Davidson Village Inn. (Note: The Inn is the sponsor and one of the founders of the Concerts on the Green) We found out on our ride that the innkeeper is an avid cyclist, which would explain his ‘need for speed.’ However, I couldn’t help but thinking… ‘I have to eat after this!’

After our stomach’s had settled a bit, we decided to head over to The Soda Shop which was established back in 1951. We’d brought along some snacks for the concert, but still needed to procure the ‘main’ part of our meal.

The closer to the time for the concert to begin, the green filled with more and more families… and many of the children got started on the free pedi-cab rides early.

The concert showcased both the Davidson College Orchestra and the Jazz Band…

We moved three times during the concert before settling on a place. Our original, and momentarily ideal spot under an obliging tree did not offer any shade from the sun at this angle.

All in all it was a very enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon…
