Cookbook Roundup

Over the past few years, the kitchen has really become a place to relax and decompress at the end of a long day. It’s time for mum and I spend together, and to create some delicious food and have a little conversation as well.

Sharing about some of my favorite cookbooks on my bookshelf has been something that I’ve been planning to do for quite awhile, and many of my fellow bloggers have already done their round up of cookbooks that they plan on diving into this summer, so I thought why not go ahead and share about some of my current favorites with you all.

Over Easy | Joy the Baker

I have been more than impressed with every cookbook that Joy the Baker (one of my favorite food bloggers to follow) over the past few years, but this was the cookbook that I was THE MOST excited about. It covered recipes that can be enjoyed during my favorite meal ever, Brunch. Seriously if every day could include Brunch I would be one happy girl.

Recipes I want to try:

  • Mashed Potato Skillet Scones
  • French Toast Ham and Cheese Sandwiches
  • Book Club Chicken Salad
  • Mini Apricot and Cardamom Scones
  • Blackberry Cobbler Muffins
  • Lavender Egg Bread

Cooking for Jeffery | Ina Garten

I absolutely loving Ina’s new show that’s airs on Sundays on the Food Network. I’ve always loved the close relationship she has with her husband Jeffery despite the fact that she spends her time in the Hamptons and he’s in Connecticut during the week and this cook book is all about the favorite dishes that she love to create for Jeffery. While the recipes are far from dairy free given her passion for butter, I’m sure I’ll be able to change it up just a bit to make it ‘Christa friendly’.

Recipes I want to try:

  • Zucchini Leek Frittata
  • Roasted Chicken with Radishes
  • Herbed Fromage Blanc
  • Perfect Potato Pancakes

Girl in the Kitchen | Stephanie Izzard

I’ve had this cookbook for what seems like ages, but it’s only during past few years that mum and I have really started flexing our culinary skills and making good use of our knife skills class we took so long ago. Stephanie Izzard has her own Chicago restaurant (The Girl and the Goat), that I fully plan to check out when I make it back up to the Windy City.

Recipes I want to try:

  • Mango and Marcona Almond Gazpacho
  • Arugula Salad with Watermelon and Feta
  • Chicken and Ramp Stew with Crispy Noodles
  • Crispy Soft-Shell Crab Sandwiches

The Forest Feast | Erin Gleeson

Not only do the recipes in this book sound oh, so delicious, I just love the artsy way the recipes are put together. Plus the recipes are Vegetarian, so there’s less switching up of ingredients for me which is a Win/Win.

Recipes I want to try:

  • Leek Medallions (bc I adore Leeks)
  • Carrot & Zucchini Ribbon Pasta
  • Strawberry Arugula Wrap (Spoiler: This recipe includes Strawberries, Goat Cheese and Arugula, who wouldn’t love it?)
  • Squash Blossom Pizza
