Autumn luncheon 2012

Every year my mom holds a autumn luncheon for her friends and this year we went all out. The theme… Tuscany… The flavor to savor… Pears both sliced and poached…

We started our journey with searching for pumpkin stems for our velvet pumpkins

Followed by our search for the perfect olive oils and balsamics for our tasting…

And then it was time to put together the flowers…

The day before the luncheon we collected our fresh ingredients… First stop… Whole foods for our pear, salad and soup ingredients. Then on to Pasta and Provisions to get our Artichoke  Gorgonzola Dip and Basil Pesto and plenty of bread rounds.

We had our soup going in the crockpot before leaving that morning and we poached the pears and put them in the refrigerator overnight.

The afternoon of the luncheon it was time to set up. First the the menu, then the table was all decked out for our autumn luncheon.

The table

The ladies arrived shortly before 3 and were shown out to the deck, and beverages were served while the soup was poured up. (We topped it off with fresh rosemary and Gremolata Olive Oil)

Olives, Artichoke Gorgonzola dip, Basil Pesto
Bread rounds and crackers

Followed by an olive oil/balsamic tasting to help the ladies decide what to put on their salads as well as for their poached pears.

Next the salads…

Followed by desserts…

All in all it was a truly fabulous afternoon. Thank you to our lovely guests for making this year the best yet.
