My friend Melanie (flight attendant) recently went on her second trip to Paris and I got a chance to chat with her about her trip. While I still haven’t been to Paris, I always look forward to the pictures she takes while on her travels.
This time around she wasn’t flying for work, but to take in a Beyonce concert at the Stade de France.
Where did you stay? This time I stayed in a hotel in the Montemarte (18th arrondissement) and had the opportunity to see some of the many sites it has to offer.
Did you go to some of the same places that you went to on your first trip? I went to a few of the same places, but I also took the opportunity too see some new ones as well. On this trip my co-worker and I went on a Seine River cruise, visited the Sacre Couer, the Montemarte cemetery, and took a ride past the Arc de Triomphe.
Seine River Cruise – the cruise features the Lourvre and you can see Norte Dame in the distance along with some of the famous bridges along the Seine.
Montemarte Cemetery – Melanie visited Alexandre Dumas’ grave… my favorite french author!
Arc de Triomphe | Champs Elysees
If you only speak a few words of french, is it easy to get around in Paris? Most people are happy to speak to you in english, but it’s worth the effort to learn a few phrases.
This was your first time using the Paris metro, how does it compare to New York? It’s mostly the same, but maybe a little cleaner.
Paris Metro – Near the Eiffel Tower
What about the food? While in Paris I always enjoyed some of the amazing cuisine the city has to offer, from street vendors on the Champs Elysee to delicious desserts.
Did you run into any issues in Paris? At 2 am everything shuts down including the metro, and one night we found ourselves looking for a cab but every one we saw had their red lights on (busy.) Thankfully we found someone who was able to find what city bus we needed to take and we made it back to the hotel safely.
Looking forward to your next trip!
