Fun, Food & Flowers

Saturdays are the one day a week that we get away from the everyday and get to explore the city around us. While we like enjoy the art galleries around us as often as we can (especially when there’s a new exhibition) this past Saturday we decided to make it all about food… and if we happened to find the perfect flower arrangement, well that would be wonderful too.

We started off at the new location of Chopt located in the Arboretum shopping area off of Providence. We’d seen pictures via Instagram, and were intrigued about the interior design of the new location as well as the fact that it appeared to be the largest location in the Charlotte area. We’ve visited both the Park Rd  (the smallest of the three locations) and Blakeney location (where we love to eat out salads outside in fine weather) so this one was the last one to mark off out little foodie to do list.

Fresh spa water is waiting for you once you stepped through the front door.

I really like the booth options.

Mum went with a traditional Chef’s Salad, while I went with a Spinach Salad w/ panic chicken, goat cheese, english cucumbers and tomatoes.

Next we headed to the newest Whole Food’s location to pop up in the Charlotte area, just off of Providence (perhaps I should have called this post ‘Just Off Providence’?) This location is in the middle size wise out of the three Charlotte area locations, and the layout of the store it is by far our favorite of the three.

I was very impressed with their floral section, and you’ll see the gorgeous arrangement that we picked up.

We picked up some grains (asserted quinoa’s, and this black and white orzo to try out) from their bulk bins… before checking out more of the store.

Cookies anyone?
Along with macaroons and other assorted desserts, they also had a dessert that I’ve been hearing quite a lot about these days… Mochi. (Alas, it’s not friendly to the dairy-intolerant).
A slice of pizza is one of the main dining options if you find yourself on the hungry side.

I was beyond impressed with the layout for the cheese in this particular location. Whether you’re looking for Cow, Goat and Sheep cheeses you’re sure to find what you’re looking for, or perhaps something new to try. I loved some of the descriptions… especially one of the sheep’s cheese that was described as ‘sheepy’.

Heading home…

We decided to bring these fun ‘Going to Market’ bags that my sister bought us from Ballard Designs. They were just perfect to tote our goodies home in.
