Fun with succulents…

I’ve always thought that succulents were intriguing… so when I heard about the Daniel Stowe Knitting Event I decided it was something I should check out. (no I can’t knit… but I love to wear knitted things from fingerless gloves, to scarfs and hats… and it so happens that I know someone that knits… my mum)

The first stop on our way to our knitting adventure was food… since we were heading out after noon it was obvious that we would need some sustinence…

Enter Just Fresh… our friendly neighborhood eatery for all things organic…

After picking up our ‘yummy’s’ it was time to head out to the Daniel Stowe… So armed with food, and a resolve to enjoy ourselves (despite the oppressive southern humidity) we were on our way.

After we got our tickets, we walked into the atrium… where the tables full of happy knitters were… surrounding them local yarn shops had brought their wares hoping to entice the avid knittters…

Yarn… yarn… and more yarn…

We headed over to the succulent table first… to pick out the perfect one to put the in the knitted bags that my mom made…

The choices…
We lined the bag with plastic… then put in some fresh dirt…
Add the succulent and then you’re finished…

To go along with the whole knitting them… Daniel Stowe invited another kind of ‘wild life’ to the grounds for the day… After all who wouldn’t want to see what we get the fibers for the knitted creations we like to wear in the winter months?

Can you believe that we get cashmere from this guy? Well we do… Napoleon started the fad… and we continue on in our love of cashmere!!!
These little ones were so unbelievably cute!
Another one of the ‘vistors’ for the day…
I had to ‘pet’ the sheep for myself… couldn’t believe how thick the wool coat was…

After seeing the animals… it was time for me to venture out in the garden… I’m still on my search for my favorite photos… here’s some pics that are in the running… Feel free to comment if one of them catches your eye…
