There’s no question that I love a good heist movie, I love the action, intrigue and the whole ‘will they or won’t they get caught’ question that you have running through the back of your mind as you watch the film.
The main characters of this film, Willie (Morgan Freeman), Joe (Michael Caine) and Albert (Alan Arkin) aren’t your typical heist masterminds. They’ve lived honestly all of their lives, but after their pension funds are cut off, they’re forced to either come up with the money to pay their bills or in the case of Joe (Michael Caine) lose their homes.
As they embark on their daring adventure to knock of the bank that is responsible for robbing them of their pension funds, they continue on with their normal daily activities in effort to throw of any suspicion. Joe reaches out to his former son-in-law to get him to be a better father to his granddaughter and Albert begins a new relationship with Annie (Ann-Margaret).
Throughout the film you are rooting for these characters, hoping that in the end things will turn out alright for all involved.
This is definitely a film you’ll get some laughs out of, and I recommend it for all those who love watching films where the ‘little guy’ has a chance of coming out on top.
