Welcome to the first post of my new series, ‘Hello from…” In this series I will share pictures and stories from my friends around the world about their experiences, favorite places and things they love to do. My first guest is Roxi Ansari. She’s a high school classmate of my sisters and has been enjoying life as an expat in Sydney, Australia.

1| When did you first decide you wanted to go to Australia and why? I wanted to go to Australia when I was a young girl because I felt called by God to be there.

2| What was the first thing you did once you arrived? I actually went straight to a summer camp for junior high students and helped them out.

3| Favorite things to do? Coffee culture is huge here!! Love sitting at a cafe. The beaches in Australia are absolutely beautiful–summer is on its way so I will be spending a lot of time there!

4| Do you plan to stay on in Australia once you’ve finished your studies? I am trying to live here permanently and am studying another course at the moment.

5| What is the most unusual thing you’ve eaten and what’s the favorite thing you’ve tried? I still haven’t been game to try kangaroo so all the stuff I eat is pretty normal. I did try Vegemite once and I hated it! Haha!! I like to eat healthy so my favourite thing is all the options we have here.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this first edition of ‘Hello, from…”

I’m Australian…kangaroo is extremely easy to find (supermarkets usually have it!) and it isn’t even that unusual. It basically tastes like a very rich steak 🙂 Don’t be scared!
