Hello from… NYC Part 1

While making my first trip to New York City is still on my must visit list, my sister and brother-in-law made it up to the Big Apple in early December.

1| What was the first thing you did when you arrived in New York? After a long cab ride with plenty of traffic, we checked into our hotel, Marriott vacation club Pulse, donned long johns and coats and hit the streets. Went to Times Square first (meh, didn’t do it for us) and then wandered around, looking at some of the statement holiday decorations on our way to radio city music hall. Then to Rockefeller Center to see the famous tree and then the light and music show from Saks across the street caught our eye. From there, we got in our first New York line to look at the Saks holiday window displays. At that point, it started to rain so we headed to the (covered) rooftop bar of our hotel for dinner.

2| When you are planning your trip what was the place you were looking forward to seeing the most? I was looking forward to the Christmas decorations the most. Mike has been wanting to go to the 9/11 museum and walk through Central Park.

3| Where did you stay while in NYC? We are Marriott vacation club owners so we stayed at the Pulse. Amazing views of the Empire State Building just a few blocks away!

4| What was it like seeing the Statue of Liberty up close? Painful. So painful. To explain, we bought a city pass, which allowed us discounted tickets for the 6 most popular NYC attractions (the American Museum of natural history, the MET, Top of the Rock, 9/11 museum, Empire State Building and a harbor lights cruise). We got on the harbor lights cruise our last night there and took sail at 7p for the 2 hour cruise around the city harbor. The majority of the boat was enclosed with large windows but there were a few seats outside. We bundled up and sat outside for better pictures. It was so cold and windy by the time we got to the Statue of Liberty that my face was burning and my eyes wouldn’t stop watering… so gave up and took my pictures inside instead! But it was beautiful.

5| The Christmas when displays were stunning did you have a favorite? We saw all of them except Macy’s . My favorite was Saks because of the music light show.
