Kdrama Review | June

It’s been a little while since my last Kdrama Review, so I thought I’d share about a few of the most recent Kdrama’s I’ve been watching…

Page Turner

1| Page Turner – It may only be three episodes long, but I really loved this short little drama.

Yoo-Seul (Kim So-Hyun) is a student of an art high school. She is a talented pianist and who won various contests, but she is driven by her mother. Yoo-Seul’s mother wanted to become a pianist when she was younger. One day, Yoo-Seul has an accident. Yoo-Seul may never play the piano again because of the accident. With the help of her friend Cha-Sik and Yoo-Seul’s rival Jin-Mok, Yoo-Seul begins to live a new life. – AsianWiki

Daebak (Jackpot)

2| Daebak – Although I don’t watch a lot of period dramas, I absolutely love this one. It’s the first drama I’ve ever seen from Jang Keun┬áSuk, and I was so impressed that I went back and watched a few of his other dramas. I can hardly wait to find out how this drama will end up.

Dae-Gil is the best gambler in the Joseon era. He holds deep resentment inside, but is also cool on the exterior. King Yeongjo is a man who never lower his head without a convincing reason. Meanwhile, Dam-Seo exists solely to take revenge upon king.

Pretty Man (aka) Bel Ami

3| Pretty Man (aka) Bel Ami – When I’m watching quite a lot of serious dramas, I like to watch some light-hearted ones as well. This was one of the first of Jang Keun┬áSuk’s earlier dramas that I checked out.

Dokgo Ma-Te (Jang Keun-Suk) is the most beautiful man in the world. He is also an ambitious man and wants to make a lot money using his beautiful appearance. Dokgo Ma-Te meets Hong Yoo-Ra, the ex-daughter-in-law of a rich family. Hong Yoo-Ra recognizes Dokgo Ma-Te’s ambitions and becomes his mentor. Hong Yoo-Ra then gives Dokgo Ma-Te a mission to seduce 10 different women. The women have all succeeded in different fields and Dokgo Ma-Te is to glean their special abilities.

4| You’re Beautiful – I really enjoyed this drama which starred Park Shin Hye as a nun who has to pretend to be her twin brother (and join a well known band) while he’s in the states recovering from a surgery gone wrong. I really enjoyed the relationship between Park Shin Hye and Jang Keun Suk’s character and how he helped him grow as a person throughout the drama.

Love, Rain
Love Rain

5| Love Rain – I’m currently watching this drama while I wait for the new dramas that have been on my list to be released… It starts off in the 1970’s when two friends are nearly torn apart when they fall for the same girl. Fast forward to 2012 and the friends have all grown up and had children of their own, and two former loves find each other again.
