Man From U.N.C.L.E. | Movie Review

You’re not very good at this whole subtlety thing, are you?

I’ve watched quite a few of the films directed by Guy Ritchie, but I have to say this is one of my favorites.

It stars Henry Cavill (as CIA Agent Solo) Armie Hammer (as KGB Agent Illya) and Alicia Vikander (as German mechanic, Gaby) Note that Alicia also starred as the main character in the movie, Testament of Youth, that I reviewed last week. To say that she’s a versatile actress would be an understatement.

Set in the 1960’s when Berlin was still divided. Solo goes in to rescue Gaby and deliver her to his CIA bosses. His efforts are interrupted by Illya who is a one man army.

His plans to make this mission his last are halted when his boss informs him his mission isn’t over and he will be going undercover with Gaby and his new partner… Illya.

Everything from the way this movie was shot in Ritchie’s signature style, to the costumes and locations were top notch. It has action, intrigue, romance and I’m seriously hoping for a sequel.

This movie sounds really slick and I do love spy movies.

I definitely found this good fun. Probably not for people who prefer more serious action. (I.E. My Dad who basically ended paying to have a nap in the cinema.)

I love the interaction between Solo and Illya.
