Paddington Review

Paddington | Voiced by Ben Wishaw
Paddington | Voice by Ben Wishaw

I was first introduced to Paddington Bear when I was a little girl and ever since I never got over my fascination with the character of the well known children’s book series.

Growing up we (my sister and I) were both avid readers, whether we read the books ourselves, had them read to us, or listened to them on tape. Every time we started a new book it was a new adventure whether we discovered a secret garden, journeyed to wonderland or  Paddington Station.

So, when I watched the trailer for this film for the first time, I couldn’t wait to see it for myself.

I would have to say that this is definitely a good family film, and can be enjoyed no matter what your age. Among it’s most notable stars are Nicole Kidman (who plays a ‘scary’ taxidermist Millicent, ) Hugh Bonneville (of Downton Abbey fame,) Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who/The Hour) and Ben Whishaw (Skyfall/The Hour,) who masterfully portrays the voice and spirit behind Paddington Bear.

You can’t help but root for Paddington as he begins his adventures with the Brown family who give him temporary shelter as he searches for the explorer who visited his native Peru so long ago.

Watch the trailer here, and I’m sure you’ll want to see this adorable film.
