See how she leans her cheek upon her hand! O that I were a glove upon that hand, That I might touch that cheek! ~Romeo

Romeo and Juliet has to be one of my most favorite Shakespeare plays. It’s full of romance and tragedy, and no matter how many times you read it or watch it you can’t help but hope that the two young lovers will get to be together after all, and ride off into the sunset.

The first time I remember seeing the play was at Queen’s University on a high school field trip. I’ve also seen a few of the movies, including the one with Leo DiCaprio and Claire Danes… but there is a new version coming out this October that I can’t wait to see. The trailer gave me chills… in a good way…

A little interesting fact of note, the script for this latest movie penned by Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey, Gosford Park, From Time to Time, The Tourist.)

Stay tuned for my review of the movie… and feel free to comment on your favorite portrayal of the Bard’s work.
