Skillshare is a wonderful resource for learning more about what interests you whether it be design, photography, writing etc. Another thing I like about the classes is the videos are short enough that even if you don’t have a whole lot of time to dedicate to it you can fit them in here and there when the gift of time present itself. (Case in point… we had a snow/ice day on Friday, so I figured why not get to taking some classes and learn some things right?)
1| This class is taught by the amazing Marte Marie Forsberg and she teaches you how to tell a visual story with your pictures. Since taking pictures of food is one thing I enjoy, (see my foodie blog here) I wanted to learn how to improve my photos. You’ll learn how to tell the story behind each photo so whoever is looking at it can get the same feeling you had when you captured the moment. The project for this class was taking pictures of afternoon tea to say what it means to you.
2| This class is taught by South African Filmmaker/Photographer/Creative Consultant, Gareth Pon. Through this class you will discover what your brand is and what makes you unique from the other Instagram profiles out there. Consistency in your photos is an important way to build your brand. Shoot what you love, and don’t feel the need to post every photo you take for sake of something to post. The project for this class (which I hope to complete when we’re having better weather) is curate 9 photos that help show who you are and what type of brand you’re trying to create.
Classes I’m considering…
3| In this class you will capture the style of your city. While Charlotte is not as large as New York or LA, it is constantly growing and new and exciting things are popping up around Uptown. The project for this class is to take three photos that show of the unique style of the city you live in.
4| Cahnel Cartell & Stevo Dirnberger left their jobs back in 2015 to travel the world and went to 60 destinations in just a year. In this class they’ll show you how to plan your dream trip and keep on budget. The project is name and describe your dream trip. Hmm… how to choose.
5| This class along with the others caught by artist Katie Rodgers has been on my list of classes to take for quite some time. I’m sure you’ve heard me mention her ‘Shadow Dancers’ and her artsy Instagram feed. In this class you’ll learn the basics of watercolors, and I plan to take this one perhaps in the spring/summer. The project for this class is to illustrate your favorite pair of shoes. (or in my case one of my ‘dream’ pairs of shoes!)
Are you currently taking classes on Skillshare? I’d love to hear some recommendations on classes I should take next!
