Sometimes life is a series of obstacles, a matter of putting one foot in front of the other. Sometimes, she realizes suddenly, it is simply a matter of blind faith.
Ever since I finished listening to Me Before You and After You, I’ve been searching for another book by British author, Jojo Moyes, to listen to on my commute each day. I’d grown so attached to the characters in those two books that I was really sad to say goodbye to them, but I was eager to get to know a new collection of characters.
Here’s a brief synopsis…
In 1916, French artist Edouard Lefevre leaves his wife Sophie to fight at the Front. When her town falls into German hands, his portrait of Sophie stirs the heart of the local Kommandant and causes her to risk everything – her family, reputation and life—in the hope of seeing her true love one last time. – Goodreads
One thing I’m really enjoying, even though I’m just a little over a chapter into the story, is the readers of this book. I’ve avoided audiobooks for a long time because so many of the narrators voices weren’t easy to listen to, but the two narrators of this book are really keeping my focus on the story and helping me not only to care about what’s going on in the story but to give me the feeling that I’m right there watching the story unfold.
Keep an eye out for my review!
