“Love requires sacrifice, always.” Ira Levinson – The Longest Ride
When I start watching any Nicholas Sparks movie I begin with an healthy dose of pessimism. My first question is always, “So, whose going to die in this one?” Why the author chooses to have one of the main characters die in each and every book/movie is beyond me, because who doesn’t want the couple who finally found each other to make it to the end of the film together?
At first I wasn’t even going to watch this film because I’m not really into the whole cowboy thing, but I’m so glad I gave it a chance.
This story revolves around two couples.
Sophia Danko (Britt Roberston) and Luke Collins (Scott Eastwood) from the present day…
… and Ruth (Oona Chaplin) and Ira Levinson (Jack Huston/Alan Alda) from the 1940’s.
Sophia and Luke run into Ira in the present, and save him after a horrible car accident that could have ended his life. Sophia rescues a box of letters just moments before the car explodes…
I have to say I like the storyline from the 1940’s the most, but that’s probably the history lover in me.
This is definitely a film you want to see, and you can check out the trailer below and decide for yourself.
