They tell us, “Who cares about art?” But they’re wrong, it is the exact reason we are fighting, for culture, for a way of life. – Lt. Frank Stokes
This is an amazing film set during WWII starring some very notable stars (Clooney, Damon, Goodman, Murray and let’s not forget Hugh Bonneville aka Earl of Grantham from Downton Abbey fame.) They form a platoon known as the Monuments Men who put their lives on the line to retrieve some of the most famous pieces of art the world has ever seen and return it to the rightful owners.
You will literally be on the edge of your seat as you watch this film, as these brave men go deep into enemy territory in order to accomplish their mission. There will be moments when you can’t help but be moved to tears, and I’m not the sort to tear up easily.
In the end this film has to be one of the best of the films that has been put out there recently and I would definitely recommend you give it a chance if you haven’t yet.
