This Christmas we decided to have a little pre-Christmas celebration in my blogging studio. I picked up the perfect piece of furniture for both storage with a nice long top for setting up little displays (although currently I have the unframed artwork for my gallery wall laid out on top.)
We picked up the goodies for the celebration at two of our favorite places (Fresh Market and Whole Foods) and since we were there on a weekday everything was freshly stocked and we didn’t have to deal with the crowds. It was also pouring outside which also could have explained the lack of people. Thankfully my rain-boots from Joules arrives in plenty of time for our latest bout of rainy weather.
Since we wanted our cake to be the focal piece of our table, we decided to go with pre-made items instead of putting everything together ourselves.
Plates we picked up from Pier 1 a few years ago…
These forks from Ballard Designs and polka-dot napkins from Pottery Barn are perfect for gatherings throughout the year.
Chicken Nuggets and Honey Mustard from Fresh Market.
Veggies from Whole Foods…
Another suggestion for any gathering, impromptu or otherwise is a cheese board. Both Fresh Market and Whole Foods have a delicious cheese selection (including Goat and Sheep’s cheeses that I can actually have!) I even saw a chocolate bar with cherries and Manchego that I nearly picked up before minding myself that I would be enjoying cake and didn’t want to push my luck. Next time though!
Our beautiful Spice Cake came from Whole Foods, and couldn’t have been more perfect… and delicious.
