Even if you’re already a fan of the Boca Dress or Ready Robe by the Texas based brand Edith Hour, you’ll enjoy today’s interview that gives us an inside look at the brand from founder Emily Lunstroth. The brand is named after Emily’s grandmother who taught her that everyday should begin with your favorite lipstick, a smile and your best foot forward.
With this idea in mind, Emily created the Boca Dress that is designed to keep you cool, comfortable and chic no matter if you’re heading out for the day, or spending the day around the house. The dress is currently available in navy, light blue, pink and white.
If you want to have a bit of me time, whether you’re enjoying an afternoon of skincare, curling up with a good book, or whipping up your favorite recipe for dinner (because let’s face it when I get home in the evenings the first order of business is pj’s and robe) then you’ll love the Ready Robe which has the option of custom embroidery for a personalized touch.
Whether your Edith Hour means indulging in that (oh-so-worth-it) 24K gold mask, spending a little one-on-one time with your pooch, or using it as a reason to turn up your favor playlist and pop some champagne, Edith Hour is all about your. Feels good, looking good.
When did you first decide that you wanted to found your own brand?
I know it sounds cliche but I have wanted to have my own company since I was a kid! But it wasn’t until December of 2018 that I decided to go for it!
Tell me about the story behind the name, Edith Hour.
Edith is my Mimi’s middle name – she was someone who was all about always looking your best. Which inspired the idea of creating a brand that helps women feel and look good no matter if they are on the couch all day!
What was your greatest source of inspiration for creating the Boca Dress?
A dress that could be your everything. I sleep in her, work in her, clean in her, run errands and even go out to dinner!
What did you enjoy the most about the design process for the Boca Dress?
The puff sleeve!! I joke that I have loved puffy sleeves way before they got trendy and I loved creating this puff!
Where do you source your fabrics from?
All our fabrics are sourced from a company in LA and production is in Texas.
How do you like to style your Boca Dress for going out and for staying in?
Going out: big earrings (a duh for me) and sneakers. Staying in: face mask and a bowl of ice cream…haha that’s an accessory right?!
Your ready robe is perfect for cozying up in the evenings and having a spa day on the weekends. What is your favorite way to indulge in some self care and me-time while wearing the Ready Robe?
My perfect me day or even a few hours is putting on my robe, a face mask and getting into bed with a good show! That combo is my happy place through and through!
Our Ready Robe is made small-batch. What does that mean to you? Simply put, it means quantity. Each piece is constructed with care and attention to detail, inspected, and packaged with love in Texas. We stress over the details so you can slip into your Edith Hour, feeling like a million bucks.
Edith Hour currently features the signature Boca Dress and Ready Robe. Do you have plans to add more dresses etc to the online shop, or additional color options of the Boca Dress?
Yes! A new style is coming this fall that I am so excited about along with a new Boca Dress color!!
What are your words of advice for women who dream of founding their own brand?
We all compare ourselves to others, as much as we don’t want to and people preach not to – it’s inevitable! SO when you do, just remember that everyone has their own circumstances and moves at a different pace.
