I always love all of the delicious produce that we find at our local Whole Foods and Farmers Markets during the summer months, but my favorite thing about summer are the cherries. On a recent trip to Whole Foods I picked up a bag of the most delicious Dark Cherries. These particular cherries have the perfect amount of sweetness and they pair absolutely gorgeously with my favorite Spanish cheeses (Manchego and Drunken Goat) and we always pick up a selection of crackers while were at the store as well.
Since I’ve always been more of a fan of small meals often made up of a selection of appetizers, this pairing makes a perfect lunch on my Sunday afternoons. Just wash up the fruit, lay out the cheese, select your favorite crackers and you’re good to go.
If cherries aren’t your favorite, a selection of berries (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries) or fresh peaches from your local fruit stand also pair well with these creamy cheeses.
We also picked up a few books all about making cheese, pairing cheese and delicious recipes that feature cheese.
