This past Saturday I had my first experience having my eyebrows threaded. Up until this point I didn’t know what to expect. No one that I know has had it done (or at least talked with me about it.) So I thought I’d share about my experience so that those of you who are considering getting your eyebrows threaded will know some of the basics before you try it for yourself.
I did some research on places in and around the Charlotte area before narrowing it down to Wow Brows Threading Studios. With all of the glowing reviews, I decided that it was definitely the place I wanted to go for my first eyebrow threading experience. Plus, their prices are amazing and they offer a variety of services.
Now for the 411 on everything you need to know about eyebrow threading.
Look up styles you like, but a good technician will know what looks best for your face shape. I scanned lots of pictures, but was torn between Charlotte le Bon and Keira Knightley’s eyebrow shape. Thankfully I didn’t have to worry about either, as my technician knew exactly what she was doing and started threading away the moment a got in the chair.
You most likely won’t need a set appointment, because (depending on your eyebrow situation) you’ll be in and out of the chair in less than 10 minutes. While I don’t have overly thick eyebrows, I have to say that my eyebrows actually look fuller now that I’ve had them threaded.
Be prepared for a degree of pain. I have a pretty high tolerance, but I will admit that while my right eyebrow was being threaded I was wondering if I’d be able to hold it together for the second one. I’m so glad that I did.
Once you lay back in the chair, the technician will have you place one hand on your forehead and one finger over the eye that she’ll be working above. So there’s no risk of catching your hair or eyelashes in the thread as she works to lasso those rouge eyebrow hairs away.
Be prepared for some minor swelling. It’s nothing compared to the swelling than you can experience with waxing, but I did notice a little puffiness on the area right below my eyebrows.
There’s benefits to having your eyebrows threaded instead of waxed.
- It’s safer than waxing, and a natural method for hair removal.
- The technician has more control over which eyebrow hairs are removed.
- Except for a slight tingling sensation, there is no lingering pain and tenderness like you can experience with waxing.
If you’re in the Charlotte area I highly recommend having your eyebrows threaded at Wow Brow. Check out their location info below.
