I had quite different plans when I was envisioning the photoshoot for this look… most of them included views of Uptown Charlotte in the background, but the weather had different plans, so I made the building that houses one of our favorite little South Park spots, Copain Gatherings (and neighbor Roosters) work for me.
Do you love flowy sweaters and want tips for how to style them for the office? Well, I have to say I’m obsessed with the Leena Cashmere Open Drape Cardigan by Hawthorne 41 that I ordered a few months back from Stitchfix. It is literally the coziest cardigan that you will ever wear, I just love the overall style, and in grey it’s very versatile whether you want to dress it up with black slacks or black/dark wash jeans for a more relaxed look.
For this particular look I paired it with the Petite Straight Leg Pant. The fit on the pants from Ann Taylor are perfect, especially if you fit in the petite category. I’ve never had to hem any of the pants I’ve purchased from the brand so far, and everything just hits in the right place which is no easy feat when you’ve got a longer torso and shorter legs. I also picked up these pants in grey recently and can’t wait to start wearing them into the office.
My black tank came from Express where I’ve found several tops recently. It has the perfect amount of stretch and is one of the most flattering tanks that I’ve ever owned. I’m also linking this Satin Cowl Neck Cami which is available in seven color options, if you’re looking for a more dressy day to night look that you could also pair with a blazer.
To give myself a little height (because yet again, short legs) I paired my look with The Heel from Margaux. I’m using every excuse I can find to wear these heels into the office, because one they really hold up throughout the day as far as comfort and two they are just such a beautiful well-made shoe. Even before I became a brand ambassador for Margaux I was impressed by the quality of every shoe they make. My shoe wishlist is getting longer by the minute and my lack of closet space is one of the few things keeping me in check.
As far as accessories this look calls for a layers. I paired my pearl teardrop necklace from Spartina 499 with my personalized locket from Brook & York. The locket holds special meaning for me, since I gave a similar engraved locket to my niece for Christmas. She might be a little young at just 15 months, but I hope one day she’ll come to treasure it.
