The month of June has been an absolute whirlwind. I have interviewed several very talented artists, went to the The Duke Mansion for the Beyond the Fountain Tour and finished up the month with a little getaway to Blowing Rock, NC. I’m looking forward to sharing more interviews in the next month. I’m going to try and keep them mostly under-wraps until the posts go live , but if I end up deciding to leave a hint, it will probably be on my Insta-Stories.
Want to see all the latest on my Instagram feed and Insta-Stories, feel free to follow along here.
I not only met Lynn Johnson at her latest show at The Shain Gallery, I also had the chance to talk with her about her art in my interview with her earlier this month.
The Ballantyne Hotel in Charlotte, NC not only has beautiful golf courses where you can spend your afternoons, they also have a beautiful restaurant that is perfect for enjoying a Saturday brunch. So, whether you’re staying at The Ballantyne Hotel or just want to enjoy a nice lunch amongst the art, checking out The Gallery Restaurant is a must.
The Duke Mansion is a bed & breakfast (and former home of the founder of Duke Energy) that I had been looking forward to seeing again for quite awhile, so when they opened their doors for the Beyond the Fountain: Home & Garden Tour, I jumped at the chance to see the beautiful home again. While the tour occurs yearly, you can visit the gardens most days during daylight hours. Just call ahead to make sure they’re not having an event.
I loved having a chance to swing on this swing at The Duke Mansion. Along with the gardens, and the tour of the beautiful rooms you can stay in, this was one of the highlights!
I’ve been using natural deodorant for years, but when my favorite brand stopped making my favorite unscented deodorant, I immediately began the search for something new. Check out my review on the natural deodorants from Primally Pure here.

We started our Saturday off on Main St. Loving the new mural by @carolinesimas outside of @crossingsonmain Perfect setting for showing off my new @katieloxton clutch and black & white check dress from @jcrewfactory #welovefortmill #mydomaine #southernliving #southercharm #willtravel #theeverygirl #dametraveler #acolorstory #mytinyatlas
Caroline Simas created a fun interactive mural in Main St. Fort Mill, and I had so much fun posing by the bicycle and butterfly wings. If you’d love to learn more about what went into creating this mural and about the artist herself, there’s an interview coming your way on Monday.
Jean Rupprecht, is another one of the amazing artists who call the Dilworth Artisan Station (in Charlotte, NC) home. Just in case you missed her interview, you can check it out here.
Summer is the perfect time to share more recipes here on the blog, and I loved creating these simple, yet delicious Watermelon Wedges with Feta & Fresh Mint.
It has been ages since we’ve been to a Farmers Market, so on the first full day of our June mini-break we headed back down to Hickory, NC (an hours drive from Blowing Rock) to see what sort of produce we could pick up.
The June mini-break was a long time coming, and with the extremely warm temperatures we’ve been having here, we decided to head up to Blowing Rock, NC where we rented one of the condo’s at The Chetola Resort.
