No matter what kind of love-hate relationship we all have with Instagram, I always enjoy getting to share some of my favorite memories that I’ve shared on Instagram over the last month. For the month of May we got up to all sorts of mischief, including checking out art shows, getting to see an exhibition featuring gowns from one of my favorite fashion designers, took a flower arranging class and interviewed some amazing artists.
So despite the fact that there was no travel this past May (I’ll be continuing to share pictures from our Georgia trip up until our next mini-break later this month) we had a pretty good month over all. Including finding an amazing bubble tea place. I LOVE BUBBLE TEA!

Sometimes you need to have an art-filled weekend to get some much needed inspiration. There were several art exhibitions that opened up this past weekend, but or first stop was the open house @dilworthartisanstation So looking forward to sharing all of the posts from our Friday/Saturday art crawl.
We headed over to the Dilworth Artisan Station where I’ve had the opportunity to interview several artists. So I’m excited to share that there will be an interview coming soon with the amazing artist behind the painting above, Jean Rupprecht.
We always enjoy talking with the team (and co-owners) of the Hidell Brooks Gallery about their exhibitions and this time we had the chance to talk with Rick Beck, the artist behind the amazing wall of glass spoons.
We all have Instagram accounts that inspire us, and Maybelle Imasa is a calligrapher that has been inspiring me for years. So you can image how excited I was when she agreed to share about calligraphy and her upcoming book here on theavidpen.
While we are no strangers to flower arranging, we had an amazing time at the Floral Arranging Workshop at the Anne Neilson Fine Art Gallery.
It’s all about fashion this year at the Mint Museum, and couldn’t have been more excited about seeing gowns by one of my favorite designers, Oscar de la Renta, up close.
The highlight of going to the art show featuring work by Lynn Johnson at the Shain Gallery was meeting the artist herself. I’ve admired Lynn’s abstract florals for years, and she shared about her inspiration and her artistic process in my interview with her here.
May brought my first official collaboration with brand, Bali Body and I absolutely loved trying out the products. If you’re looking to get that Summer glow before you head off to vacation, you can check out the post.
Yesterday I shared about the latest French patisserie to open here in Charlotte, and their pastries are amazing. So if you’re in the area, head over the Renaissance Patisserie for some pastries and people watching.
On Memorial Day I shared an interview with Charlotte based artist Paul Hastings. He’s another of the Charlotte artists who call the Dilworth Artisan Station home, and he’s done some amazing work with Levine’s Children’s Hospital.
