Every Wednesday for the past several years, I’ve had lunch with my grandfather. He picks me up from work and we usually go someplace in the area for a bite to eat followed by a stop at Starbucks.
As I’ve mentioned before I take some time off during the month of December, and I decided we would explore some restaurants in other areas of Charlotte that are either new to me, or restaurants that my grandfather hasn’t tried yet.
For our first Wednesday lunch, we headed over to the Sunflour Baking Company over on East Blvd. For those of you who are native to Charlotte, there are now three locations in Charlotte. The newest Sunflour Bakery location is over in the Ballantyne area, and the Dilworth and Elizabeth locations are towards Uptown Charlotte.
We arrived just shortly before noon, and were happy to find that the line wasn’t too long (this location is absolutely packed during peak hours) but we weren’t quite quick enough to snag the last cinnamon roll.
Out of all the delicious hot sandwiches and Panini’s that they offer, we narrowed it down to the TAB (Turkey Avocado Bacon) on Sourdough for me and a Cheddar Biscuit (which was quickly devoured as soon as we found ourselves a nice window seat overlooking the parking area and East Blvd.) and the Club for my grandfather.
While we waited for our food, I thought over what goodies I’d pick up before we left as the line grew and the bakery started to fill up with the noon lunch crowd.
We decided on the Almond Croissant (which would be joining the TAB that I’d already order to bring home to mum) and a Vegan Chocolate Chip cookie for me. Yum-my!
