It’s time for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale again, and this time I thought I’d do something a little different. Instead of just focusing on a few pieces I like, I thought I’d cover all of my favorite wardrobe essentials (dress, sweaters/tops, handbags, jewelry and of course shoes!)
In order to work with everyone’s budget, I’ve selected pieces in a variety of different price points so that there is a little something for everyone. Early access to the sale runs through July 19th, but the sale will be open to non-card holders beginning July 20th-August 5th. I’ve been a card-holder with Nordstrom for years, and have many childhood memories of the hours we used to spend in Nordstrom stores while growing up in California. For this reason, Nordstrom will always be my favorite department store.
While I kept my selections seasonal, there will be sales on Fall/Winter items that will no longer be on sale once the Anniversary Sale event ends on August 5th. You can check out the Anniversary Sale Catalog here. I tend to make all my purchases online to take advantage of free shipping which is offered to both cardholders & non-card holders alike.
Dresses are without a doubt my go-to on an almost daily basis. They are so easy to style with accessories and shoes and that’s what you’ll see me wearing pretty much every work-day during the Spring and Summer months. (During the Fall and Winter I’m more than likely in jeans with chunky sweaters because the AC is at the same temperature in our office building no matter the time of year.)
I like to go between dressy and casual depending on my mood and whether I have any meetings that require me to business casual. I’ve mentioned before that we have a relaxed dress code where I work, so it gives us more options when it comes to workwear.
Tops & Sweaters
I don’t often go with skirts, so I’m moving right along to Tops & Sweaters. While I do tend to go with dresses, I picked up the cutest pair of linen sailor pants the other day, so having a variety of tops and sweaters in your wardrobe regardless of the season is a fashion must have. Pretty much all of my sweaters are solid colors in a variety of styles, because I like to reserve my love of stripes and prints for my tops. Most of the options I’ve shared below are good for layering with a cardigan or blazer depending on what look you’re going for. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect blazer for Spring/Summer!
I’m the kind of girl who would love to have a whole closet full of handbags in every style and color, but being the budget conscious girl I’m trying to be this year, I’m attempting to swear of buying any new handbags. While it’s good to have neutral bags that go with everything, sometimes it’s fun to go with colorful bags as well. Yes, they might not go with as many outfits, but it’s nice to add a pop of color to your look.
If I had to pick what type of jewelry it would probably be either necklaces or earrings. I do wear bracelets when I can remember to put them on, and I’m currently looking for a more petite watch that will go with most of my outfits. I love the Kate watch with pink band below! While we’re on the subject of watches, I know that larger watches were (and still are) all the rage, but when you’re petite and have especially small wrists it doesn’t always look the best.
One piece of jewelry that I think every girl should have are a set of pearls. Whether they’re saltwater, freshwater or simulated it’s a classic piece to have in your collection that you can wear for special occasions, or whenever you want to add a classic touch to your look!
Coming up with my shoe selections for this post was the most difficult. I’ve stated many times that I tend to wear flats during the Spring/Summer because all of the boots and booties that I wear during the Fall and Winter months have up to 4 inch heels. While I know beauty is pain, I’m trying to keep my feet and back happy when possible!
