This past weekend, we traveled to Asheville where my mum was attending a Needlepoint.com Stitching Retreat. It so happened to fall on the weekend of my birthday, so we fit in some celebrations as well. Our first stop after getting checked in at the Omni Grove Park Inn, was of course settling in at our room in the Sammons wing of this massive hotel. (There are three separate areas for guest rooms, the main historical part of the inn and the Sammons and Vanderbilt Wings.)

Now up to the Sunset Terrace for lunch…

After lunch we headed over to the Vanderbilt Wing to see where the Conference Room where mum would be attending her needlepoint class the following afternoon. On the way there I took a snap of the set up about one of the inns notable guests… F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Since phones are off limits in the spa… I didn’t get any pictures. (Seriously, if you are going there to enjoy yourself, why wouldn’t you want to be able to have some photos to remember it by?)

I did snap this picture of my spa portfolio and my iPad while I was in the 'quiet' relaxing room.

After spending some time in the spas relaxing rooms both before and after our pedicure treatments, we headed over to the Spa Cafe for some dinner.

I also purchased this elephant stuffed with a soothing lavender pouch that can be heated up, and we both received stones and chocolates as part of the pedicure service.

After relaxing in the room a little, we headed over to the hospitality suite for Needlepoint.com where mum picked up her goodie bag and looked at some of the items on display. (She was the official finisher for the display items on showcase during the event.)

The poison bottles where finished by mum aka The Needlepoint Finisher.

Now time to head back to the room and turn in for the evening…

Stay tuned for Day 2.
