On Monday we found ourselves on an impromptu trip to Raleigh, North Carolina. My mum was going for a needlepoint teaching engagement, and on the way back we decided to stop in at The Fearrington Village for a walk around before the drive home.
It was the best decision ever!
We were last at the Fearrington for our fall trip last year (it was my first time there and my mum’s second) and I have been aching to go back ever since.
Our first stop was Dovecote where I checked up on the doves in residence Buster and Myles. Despite my best efforts I couldn’t catch them when they were ‘laughing’ (seriously you have to be there to believe this) I wasn’t able to catch them in the act.
We had a look around at some of the awesome things they have in store, and I picked up a iPhone carrier/mini wallet for those times you want to have just your phone and your cards on you without a big purse. Mum picked up some Pear, Vanilla, Muscat Jam that we are looking forward to trying soon.
Next up it was time to head over to McIntyre’s Bookstore to indulge our literary side. We’d been listening to Ruth Reichl’s book ‘Delicious’ on the way up to Raleigh, so I decided to pick up a signed copy. (They’d had a book signing event with the author awhile back, so it was nice to have a signed copy.)
We headed over to The Goat for a beverage and a snack before heading over to walk through the gardens.
The last time we were at the Fearrington it was fall, so it was nice to see all the pretty flowers and green ferns that had came out for this season.
Well, until next time!
