It all started with a photo I’d seen on Instagram. It was a beach day photo from one of my fellow content creators who is Charleston based, and I knew that I just had to venture out to Sullivan’s Island and find the lighthouse (and also equally important the boardwalk leading to the beach!)
When we first arrived on Sullivan’s Island we were a little skeptical, because not only was parking almost impossible to find much like in Charleston, but with all of the people heading off to the beach without masks even with the citywide mask rule in Charleston and the surrounding area we wondered if getting pictures of my ‘perfect for the beach’ dress and ‘the most comfortable sandals ever’ was actually worth it. (Not to mention the lighthouse itself is completely encircled with a chain link fence.
Prior to our visit to Charleston, I’d found the perfect midi dress for the beach. It would stay in my closet for months after I picked it from Loft (online) during the lockdown here in the Carolinas. While we’d originally planned to visit Charleston during the month of April when it would have been quite a bit cooler (no matter how many times we’ve visited Charleston in the past, we forgot just how humid it could get by the ocean!) it really was the perfect lightweight dress for a warm/humid day.

After circling around and finally finding the last remaining spot, we decided to go for it, masks either on when we weren’t trying to get a photo, or tucked safely away in a pocket when it was time to snap a photo.

After walking about half the distance down to the beach, we found the perfect vantage point of both the boardwalk leading to the Atlantic, and views of the lighthouse from a more ‘picturesque’ viewpoint.
Even with a storm headed towards the beach, the fabric of the dress, my Tuckernuck sunhat and Sarah Flint sandals definitely helped with the heat, and my feet which had blisters on them from walking in wedges the previous day couldn’t have been happier in the my Grear Sandals. It really is true that shoes from Sarah Flint are the most comfortable shoes around, and the Grear Sandal was my go-to both throughout the rest of our trip and will continue to be during the rest of the summer season. Definitely a worthwhile investment!
