It goes without saying that vacations are looking very different during the pandemic. We felt so lucky to have secured a cottage at location that was more remote so we could properly social distance, however our primary objective for our trip was to travel responsibly/safely and also take the opportunity to enjoy our time away even if we spent most of our time in our cottage. (For those of you who are new readers, we travel just as much for the place we’re staying as the destination itself!)
In this post I’m sharing about a few of the way we found to relax during our Charleston trip and I hope you’ll be inspired to try out one or all of them on your next vacation or staycation.
Bath Froth (Seven Seven Cosmetics) | Chamomile Mist (Seven Seven Cosmetics)
Take a relaxing bubble bath (or just soak your feet!)
There’s nothing like a bubble bath (or just soaking your feet) while on vacation. I couldn’t have been more excited when I found out that the cottage we would be sharing had a bathtub. I’d picked up the most amazing Bath Froth from Seven Seven Cosmetics prior to my interview with the brands founder, Emily Jimison a few months back just so we could use it for our Charleston vacation. HEAVEN! You can also enjoy a Spa Day from the comfort of your room/rental cottage, and we loved sharing our love of skincare with my little niece Cecileia for her first ever spa day, read all about it in the post Baby’s 1st Spa Day.

Have a mani/pedi night
Since the COVID-19 pandemic first began and everything started shutting down, I decided it was just about time that I learned how to give myself (and my mom) a proper pedicure. As much as we’ve missed (and continue to miss) our visits to our local Frenchie’s, it’s nice to know that when it comes down to it I can do a pretty good pedicure.
I painted my nails and my mom’s prior to the trip (because let’s be honest we’d done a foot peel that had wreaked havoc on the pedicure I’d done a few weeks previously) and I can’t say enough about how much I love No.13 (Shimmer) by Cote. It’s a non-toxic brand too, so I liked knowing I was using a product that’s much better for my nails. However, this was only the second time I’d painted my sisters nails (and so much better than when I tried a few years back) and it was little Miss Cecileia’s first pedicure ever which we had to do while she was napping, because those hands and feet are always moving!

Spend afternoon on the beach or by the pool
If you’re staying somewhere with a private beach away from the crowds, then there’s nothing more relaxing than spending sometime outdoors. Our little getaway had both it’s own private beach with views of the Charleston Harbor as well as it’s own lagoon, so there were plenty of opportunities to enjoy some fresh air. In addition to our little private beach, the Sullivan’s Island Lighthouse was less than 15 minutes drive from our location, and you’ve already seen the photo shoot from our time there in the post, The Beachy Midi Dress You Could Live in All Summer Long // Sullivan’s Island Lighthouse. Also read my post Afternoon by the Pool for more about our afternoon at the private pool located just steps from our cottage.
What You Wish For // summer short set in Surf, Slippers (Also from Lake Pajamas, avail in store)
Curl up with a good book and your favorite pair of PJ’s
I brought What You Wish For by Katherine Center and a iPad full of books that I need to make some headway on. There have bee so many amazing books that have come out in 2020, I’m determined to make some serious headway on my must-read list.
The pair of Lake Pajamas were oh, so cozy, and the perfect excuse to curl up with my book. To find out more about Lake Pajamas and some of my favorite selections from the sleepwear brand, read my post Blue & White Stripes // Lake Pajamas for more about why I love this brand so much!
