Having a hard time getting in the holiday mood this year? Well here are 5 of my favorite ways to get in the holiday mood!
Go to a holiday performance / event
To get holiday mood this year, we started off the month of December with two events. First the Afternoon Tea & Holiday Cheer event at the Duke Mansion that I shared about earlier this week. The second event that we’re going to is a performance of Clara’s Trip at the Booth Playhouse in Uptown Charlotte. This is the first time we’ve gone to the show (although I love sharing about the upcoming performances each year) and the second show we’ve seen from Caroline Calouche & Co.
Watch your favorite holiday movies
I started watching holiday movies the day after Thanksgiving this year. Netflix has several new original holiday films including The Christmas Chronicles starring Kurt Russell. I also watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas for the first time this year. Hulu and Freeform are two more apps that I like to go for my holiday movie watching needs.
Order your first holiday drink from Starbucks
While I don’t stray from my Iced Venti Soy Chai Tea Latte very often, I like to get one of the holiday flavored Hot Chocolate’s at least once during the holiday season.
Listen to Christmas music
They’ve been playing Christmas music both on the radio in stores for ages, but I like to listen to some of the classic jazzy favorites. Last year I downloaded the album from Leslie Odom Jr. Simply Christmas. I listened to it all December long.
Have a present wrapping party
Wrapping presents is fun anyway (especially when gift giving is your love language) but having a Christmas wrapping party is even better. Here’s a few ideas for you.
- Guests can come in their favorite pair of holiday PJ’s
- Whip up a batch of cookies (or) have a hot chocolate bar
- Crank up the Christmas music (or) watch your favorite holiday movie
- Light the fireplace
