I must have flowers, always and always. – Claude Monet
Nothing brightens up a room like fresh flowers, and we love any excuse at all to buy a bunch of gorgeous blooms whether it’s to decorate a table for an event or holiday, or simply just because.
In the past we’ve mostly only purchase our fresh cut flowers at either the supermarket or speciality markets, but sometimes you need to find the blooms that you simply can’t find anywhere else. So, this past weekend we discovered the Charlotte Flower Market for the first time. It’s located just off I-77 on Clanton Rd. and we’ve been passing by for years on our way towards Uptown Charlotte.
With Easter coming up we wanted to do a couple of special arrangements, and by we I mean mum, as I’m still new to floral arranging. We had an idea of what kind of flowers we were looking for and the color scheme as well. (It’s always good to be prepared, but it’s perfectly okay if you’re not. Inspiration can and will strike you the moment you walk through the collection of flowers in the markets refrigerated cooler. (Well, the cold will strike you first, but you’ll get used to it.)
The staff gives all newbies a tour of the cooler and then you can either be left up to your own devices, or they are willing to help you select your flowers. Since our Easter luncheon is a few weeks away, we decided to go ahead and put in our order for what flowers we wanted, so we could pick them up the day before.
Stay tuned for the post about our Easter Bouquet coming soon.
