When planning your summer outdoor activities, berry picking definitely deserves a place on your to-do list. Last year we visited Bush N Vine in York, South Carolina to pick the most gorgeous sunflowers, and this year we were able to visit during their strawberry picking season. It’s such an enjoyable activity for the whole family and my sister, brother-in-law and niece joined us for our morning on the farm.
For my outfit, I went with a combination of elegance and practicality, with tennis shoes being the ideal footwear when you’re going to be doing a bit of walking and kneeling down to pick the strawberries.
My dress is one of my favorite JCrew Factory dresses from a few seasons ago, and the shift design and the length of the dress were perfect for all of the walking around we did prior to picking our strawberries. My tennis shoes were a quick Target pick-up last year before we made our very first visit to Bush N Vine.
As someone who tends to get quite a lot of new freckles anytime I spend time out in the sun, I opted for my new sunhat from San Diego Hat Company. While it’s definitely not a hat for a windy day (if you’ve seen my reels lately, you’ll know what I’m talking about) it’s perfect for spending a morning outdoors.
Checking on the blueberries for an upcoming visit.

While baskets or buckets are provided at most u-pick locations that we’ve been to, bring a basket of your own makes the experience even more enjoyable. I was happy when this basket from Anthropologie arrived just days before our trip to Bush N Vine. It’s the perfect size to fit two pint pails and it also makes the perfect little picnic basket (which is something I’m looking forward to sharing sometime during the summer.)

On our way back from the strawberry fields we stopped in at the Bush N Vine store where you can buy pre-picked strawberries, peaches, and other produce that is grown on the farm. Since we were keeping things strawberry-centric, we picked up some of their Strawberry Syrup (ideal for sweetening drinks) and Strawberry Dressing (for those delicious summer salads we love to make).
