It is generally conceded that the Arcade Building would do justice to a city many times the size of Asheville. It is by far the finest structure in the South and there are few, if any, finer in the entire country. – E.W. Grove (1927)
The Grove Arcade originally opened in 1929, and was home to many shops and offices until World War II. It was renovated and restored to it’s original function and reopened in 2002. The Grove is home to many shops and restaurants on the ground floor, with offices and apartments located on the upper floors.
Each year the Grove is decorated to celebrate the Christmas holidays and this year during our mini break in Asheville, it was our first stop when we got into town.
Stay tuned for the post coming to theavidpen on Thursday where I’m sharing all about our experience at the Battery Park Book Exchange & Champagne Bar.
