On our visit to the Biltmore Estate in 2017, we had lunch at the Village Social after our visit to the ‘Big House’ as it’s affectionately known. After a few hours filled with walking through the house and gardens, heading either to one of the eateries located off the house itself or in the nearby Antler Village is definitely something you’ll be in serious need of.
The Village Social, located in Antler Village and connected to Village Hotel on the Biltmore Estate, is the the perfect place to enjoy a bite to eat. When we arrived just prior to our 6 o’clock reservations most of the tables were already full and you could already smell delicious aromas wafting from the nearby kitchen.
I’ve always loved appetizers, so I picked an option for both the Snacks section of the menu and the Sides. For my ‘main’ course I tried out the Blue Crab Cake with Micro Greens and Preserved Lemon Remoulade on the side. Out of all the crab cakes that I’ve tried, this was one of the most delicious crabs that I’ve ever had.
For my side option, I tried out the Garlic Herb Fries. While the fries on top were a bit salty for my taste (my brother-in-law would not agree on the too salty part) I enjoyed them all the same.
Ashley went with the Mushroom & English Pea Risotto with Arugula, Asparagus, Chive and Pecorino cheese. Perhaps she can recreate a version of this when we visit her for my birthday in October?
Mom went with the Herb Roasted Chicken with Summer Market Vegetables, Buttermilk Whipped Potatoes and Chicken Demi Glaze. The waitress warned us that the portions were large for this dish in particular, but my sister helped her out a bit.
Since this was a pre-birthday meal for my sister, we let the waitress know while my sister was otherwise engaged, and they sent us this delicious plate of coconut truffles and berries drizzled with dark chocolate sauce. Yum.
