The Saturday before Mother’s Day we had the wonderful opportunity to take our first Floral Arranging Workshop. What made this workshop stand out above the rest, was not only was it held in an art gallery (Anne Neilson Fine Art Gallery) one of our favorite artists (Caroline Boykin) from their recent show (Botanica), was teaching the workshop.
When we arrived at the gallery, the table was already set up with beautiful vases full of all the flowers we would have to pick from for our arrangements, and the gallery staff and the artist herself were working together to get everything prepared for the event.
Caroline had also brought along some of her bud vases featuring delicate porcelain flowers, that all those attending the class had first ‘dibs’ on.
Once everyone arrived, Anne introduced Caroline to the group and Caroline put together her arrangement, giving helpful floral arranging tips as she went along (ie measuring your stems, where to add height, and the benefits of having a tape grid to help with the arranging process.)
After Caroline finished her arrangement, it was time for the rest of us to start picking out flowers and putting our own arrangements together.
