For those of you native to the Queen City (Charlotte, North Carolina) you’ve probably already noticed all of the new shops and restaurants that have opened up over the past several months in the expansion of Atherton Mills. Located just across from the main building (which includes Anthropologie, Free People, Warby Parker and a location of Not Just Coffee) there are so many new spots to choose from and I thought I’d highlight a few of them.
Boutiques
Lululemon
Since visiting the Lululemon location in Greenville during a visit with my sister/brother-in-law I was very excited to see that we have our very own location of the ultimate shop for athletic apparel right in Southend. Perhaps I’ll pick up a new ‘outfit’ for my first ever yoga class that I hope to attend sometime this year. (It’s been a longtime coming, but I’m looking forward to a more ‘chill’ me!)
Madewell Denim Edit
It’s more than just jeans at this Madewell location, you can also pick up the perfect clothing items to pair with them from tees and jackets to totes. Madewell also offers (Denim Personalization, Denim Recycling,
Dot-Com Try-Ons, Hemming, Madewell Men’s, One-on-One Styling, Online Order Pickup, The Madewell Archive with ThredUp.
The Golden Carrot
While I haven’t been in this shop yet (it was quite chilly during our morning out) I’m looking forward checking out this shop that features a curated selection of fine jewelry and unique treasures all made by independent designers. As a jewelry lover (especially when it comes to dainty stackable rings) I can’t wait to see what the shop has in store for me.
The shop is owned by Nicole Corriher, a former actress who opened the original location of The Golden Carrot in Hoboken, New Jersey. When Nicole and her family made the move south they set up shop in Southend.
Uniquities
Uniquites was founded in 1992 by Julie Jennings and is one of the most well known clothing boutiques in North Carolina. The boutique offers a curated selection of designer brands and is known for their denim selection. The Atherton Mill location features a comfy lounge where you can enjoy refreshments while you shop.
Las Olas
Coming Soon
A Charleston based shop that will be bringing their signature bathing suits, boardshorts and positive energy to the QC.
Home
West Elm
The Atherton Mill location has a even larger showroom than the Metropolitan Ave location, and with all of the apartments going up in and around Southend (you’ll literally run into an apartment complex anywhere you turn now) having a go to location for home decor is an absolute essential.
Society Social
If you love to entertain, a stop in at Society Social is a must. The brand was first founded by Roxy Te, who was raised in her families furniture factor. With the belief that decorating and entertaining go hand in hand, you’re sure to find something that will show of your personal sense of style when guests come to visit. Society Social’s designs have been featured in such well known publications as Elle, Town & Country and House Beautiful.
Selfcare/Beauty/Fitness
Sephora
Barry’s
With all of the apartments in and around Southend it only makes since that we would get a location of Barry’s. This boutique lifestyle brand has innovated group fitness by creating an immersive and transformative full-body workout experience. The studio has been custom designed to include a lifestyle clothing boutique (where you purchase Barry’s workout and athleisure apparel (along with apparel designed exclusively for their Atherton location) along with the signature Fuel Bar.
Drybar
Known for their signature blowouts, if you’re headed to an event and want to look your best, stopping in at Drybar is always a good idea.
PAINT Nail Bar
Coming Soon
If you’re looking for a fume-free, clean beauty experience, PAINT Nail Bar will be opening this year.

Restaurants
Indaco
Executive Chef Matthew Hoang has brought the Charleston based rustic Italian concept to Charlotte. The menu features pastas, house-made and cured meats and more that can be enjoyed family-style or à la carte. We enjoyed our first experience at Indaco (especially the more intimate dining aspect of the Atherton location) you can read more about it here.
CAVA
Whether you’re dining in or picking up to-go the Atherton location of CAVA is a perfect spot to get your fix for Mediterannean food. With their customizable bowls (I’m a grain bowl girl myself) you’re sure to find something to appease your palate.
