Looking for a hot spot to get your Asian street food fix right off the light rail (and only steps away from the new shops at Atherton Mills?) Hawker’s Asian Street Fare is THE place to go. With a variety of small plates to share, and entrees that will have you considering seconds from the first bite, there’s a little something for everyone at Hawkers.
From the moment you walk in, you’re immersed in a funky cool vibe that is very reminiscent of an Asian street market. From the decorative bird cage lighting at the entrance, to the Fortune Cat (known as Maneki Neko in Japanese) and newspaper covers tables.
There are plenty of spots to enjoy a meal at Hawkers from the bar, to the main dining area with views of the kitchen where food is served up hot and delicious.
We first discovered Hawker’s during one of our many visits to Jeni’s Ice Cream (which is right across from Hawker’s if you’re looking for a bite of dessert afterwards) during the summer, and every time the place was absolutely packed (both inside and out) with people waiting for what I believe is the best Lo Mein EVER. It’s jam packed with flavor and everything from the sauce (HEAVEN) to the noodles, chicken and veg, this is THE dish that you want to try on your first visit to Hawkers.
Since sharing is caring, we ordered a Lo Mein to go along with some of their Chicken Egg Rolls and Yi Yi’s Chicken Dumplings (which come 4 to an order and are available either seared or pan fried.) If you’re not sure which way to go with your dumplings just ask, we went with seared.
I definitely recommend checking out the menu before you visit, so you’ll already have a good idea of what you want to order before your visit. As you might expect the Lo Mein comes with my top recommendation and the Egg Rolls (two to an order) and Yi Yi’s Chicken Dumplings make a perfect choice of appetizers to share with the table.
