This past Friday night we headed over to Charlotte’s Myers Park neighborhood for the latest art show at the Shain Gallery. The show featured new work by gallery artists Lynn Johnson and Brian Hibbard with both artists in the gallery for the event.
Lynn Johnson’s florals are always so beautiful to see, and the nature of floral abstracts bring a since of calm as you study the varying color palettes the artist uses. For her latest paintings there were pinks/peaches and neutrals that worked together in perfect harmony on the canvas.

Artist Bio —
My process begins with imagery stemming from many sources. It might come from a memory, my immediate environment, travel, or my own photographs and sketches. It progresses by combining a love for drawing and mark making with washes and expressive, fluid brushstrokes. It’s a layering process, a dialogue, addition and subtraction. I don’t paint with a precise plan, I make mistakes but consider them occasions to create something unique and unexpected. As my work continues to evolve, I rely on my process and intuition to guide me in fearlessly expressing the beauty and vulnerability I find in my many subjects. – Lynn Johnson

Brian Hibbard’s work for the show predominantly featured dogs on circus balls which as a dog lover never fails to bring a sense of delight as you view the artists work. This show featured both a wall of smaller 16×16 pieces and larger work that would add a touch of fun to a study and entertainment room.
