There’s a new pizza place to check out in Davidson, Mandolino’s Artisan Pizza. The pizzeria is owned by the owners of Flatiron Kitchen + Taphouse and is helmed by Executive Chef Bill Schultz. The menu offers everything from salads and specialty pizzas to create your own. The pizzeria has a homey and yet trendy feel, and I just love what the new owners did with the former home of the Millstone Bake House.
Whether you’re looking to dine in with the locals, or get take out (just head over to the bar and place your order) this is definitely a pizzeria that is worth the drive to check out. It’s just a 30 minute drive from Uptown Charlotte and there quite a few things to do in Davidson either before or after your visit.
We opted to get take out for our first visit to Mandolino’s and I’d already decided on exactly what I wanted before we’d even walked through the front door. Although the New York, New York Pizza (Ricotta, Goat Cheese, Caramelized Onion, Honey Crisp Apple, Prosciutto & Basil with a Walnut Pesto) sounded fabulous, I opted for the Red Pizza (Tomato, Vegan Mozzarella, Basil) topped with Mushrooms and Prosciutto. Mum went with the White Pizza and added olives, arugula and chicken.
