Planning to make the switch to natural deodorants. Tired of overly scented products? In today’s post I’m sharing my thoughts on fragrance free natural deodorants. I’ve tried five different deodorants over the course of the past year and a half, and I’m sharing my thoughts! While you might think that trying out five different deodorants is a bit much, but when it comes to finding the product that works the best for you, it’s worth it to find the options that work best.
I haven’t listed the deodorants by rank, instead they are listed from newest to oldest. I’m sharing my honest thoughts about each instead of ranking them, and each one of them has their own unique aspects that led to my choice to try them out.
Kosa sport | $15
The Kosa Sport is my only roll-on deodorant that I’ve tried (since the days when I wore traditional deodorants) and I really love it. It goes on nicely, there’s literally no need to worry about residue (just give your pits a fan and you’re good to go). The only thing worth noting, is if you’re planning to go out and sunbathe on your deck or by the pool etc there could be a reaction to sunlight which is noted right on the package. However since I do none of these things and my underarms are rarely. if ever, exposed to direct sunlight, this wasn’t enough of a reason to stop using the product. I’m definitely a fan, and it held up all day (including when I got into by 104 degrees car at the end of the work day.)
Ingredients: Water, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Mandelic Acid, Glycerin, Shikimic Acid, Lactic Acid, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citric Acid, Tartic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate
by Humankind | $12
When it came to my decision to try out the fragrance free deodorant from by Humankind, it was their commitment to the environment (just add a refillable container with your first order, and then just refills after that). They’re easy to refill (just follow the instructions both on the box and on their Insta-stories if you need a refresher!) At $12 dollars its in the mid range of the deodorants I tried for this post.
Ingredients: Squalane (from sugarcane); Stearyl Alcohol; Arrowroot Powder; Ethylhexyl Palmitate; Baking Soda; Olus (Jojoba) Oil; Hydrogenated Castor Oil; Candelilla Wax; Lauric Acid; Tapioca Starch; Zinc Oxide; Sucrose Stearate; Azelaic Acid; Behentrimonium Methosulfate; Potassium Ascorbyl Tocopheryl Phosphate; Ethylhexylglycerin; Magnesium Hydroxide.
Type:A | $10
The first thing worth mentioning is how this deodorant is applied. Similar to how the Happy Pits (from Megababe) that is the perfect detox product when you’re going from traditional deodorants to natural dedorants, the product is squeezed out through little openings in the top of the bottle. The deodorant melts right on in, and leaves you with a light ‘natural’ scent. The product is sweat activated, so if you’re planning on going out on a run (since hitting a gym or yoga class is not ideal right now) this is definitely a deodorant you’ll want to try.

Native | $12
I first heard about Native via Instagram through Alyssa Lenore of Styled & Smitten. She’s a New Jersey based blogger, and frequently mentions just how much she loves using Native. This was the second brand I tried, and as with all deodorants, I put on my deodorant following my shower each evening. I’ve found that this both prevents any chance of getting any residue on my clothes I’m wearing the next day (although most of these deodorants can be put on right before you get dressed in the mornings!) and if you get a little warm during the night there’s no risk of either yourself or anyone else knowing in the morning.
I truly enjoyed how my underarms felt while using this deodorant, and for those days where you’re not planning on working up to much of a sweat its the perfect option!
