Chances are if you’re a reader of magazines such as InStyle, Glamour or Vogue you’ve heard about Function of Beauty. I’ve been reading about Function of Beauty since the brand first started, but it was only recently that I decided to take the plunge and step up my hair care routine.
There were several reasons why I wanted to give Function of Beauty a try. My sister had already ordered her first shampoo/conditioner and loves it and since I’ve started adding highlights to my hair it’s been hard to find a shampoo/conditioner that wasn’t overwhelming when it came to fragrance.
So you can imagine how happy I was when I found out that you can order your personalized shampoo fragrance free. The only thing you’ll be smelling when you lather up is the aroma of the ingredients used to tailor your shampoo for your personal hair care goals.
The quiz starts off with your hair profile. My profile is straight + fine + normal. I don’t tend to have oily hair since I wash it daily and I my hair doesn’t get ‘sweaty’ unless we’re having hot weather.
Next you’ll select 5 hair goals…
- Strengthen
- Hydrate
- Color Protection
- Volumize
- Replenish Hair
I’ve noticed even before I started getting highlights (my first time having highlights added to my hair was in April of this year) that my hair would sometimes break or was dry at the ends. Part of this was because I not only used to blow dry my hair every time I washed it (which as I mentioned is a daily routine) but I also style it with a curling iron in the morning.
While I’ve stopped blow drying my hair (with the exception of when I’m on vacation and I don’t have time for it to air dry) which has helped with some of the breakage issues having a shampoo/conditioner that will not only strengthen, hydrate, volumize and replenish my hair with every wash has become a necessary part of my daily routine. Plus every hair stylist will tell you, that adding color to your hair whether it’s highlights, or a complete color change can really dry out your hair.
Every bottle of shampoo/condition from Function of Beauty is:
- paraben, sulfate and toxin free
- personalized just for you
- cruelty free
Two other fun ways that you can personalize your shampoo/conditioner to you is picking a color (I obviously went with pink) and adding a fragrance (if you prefer not to go fragrance-free.)

Tips
- Shake your product before each use
- Lather shampoo with water on hands before massaging into scalp/hair, working from roots to ends.
- Rinse & repeat
- It’s recommended to use your Function of Beauty shampoo/conditioner 4-5 times a week, so just switch it up a little if you wash your hair 7 days a week like I do.
This is not a sponsored post, but I just love sharing about new products that I hope you all will love as much as I do!
