“I have only to break into the tightness of a strawberry, and I see summer – its dust and lowering skies.” — Toni Morrison
On an unseasonably cool morning a few weekends ago, we took the littles (Celia and Charlotte) out to pick strawberries at the local U-Pick field. While the field itself had mostly been picked over given the lateness in the strawberry season, the girls had so much fun finding the good strawberries and showing off their strawberry picking outfits.
We really love having a U-Pick field so close to the house, and giving the girls a chance to pick their current favorite berry. While we didn’t walk away with many berries in our baskets, with the farm stand just across from the field, we had the chance to buy pre-picked strawberries and get the girls some of their ‘famous’ strawberry ice cream.
