One of my favorite summer fruits is peaches. The sweet mellow donut and white peaches are my favorites, each bite is a little taste of heaven. For this board I wanted to feature my fruits in threes, as going with odd numbers for boards tends to be the most aesthetically pleasing and since we like to share our boards between two to three people there’s a little something for everyone’s taste on this board.
I was dreaming up exactly what I wanted to put on this board for almost a week before I picked up the last remaining ingredients. I already had my fruits on hand with the exception of the gooseberries which were a last-minute find. Sometimes you have to leave room for a little spontaneity when you find some particularly intriguing produce.
Murray’s cheese doesn’t just have delicious cheeses, meats, and jams. One of our local grocery stores also carries some delicious olive mixes including the Pitted Italian Olive Mix which was featured in the Les trois Fromages Charcuterie Board and the Sicilian Olive Mix.
I keep the Supreme Brie Bites on hand (if you’ve ever had Supreme Brie you’ll know why) and Herbed Chevre is always a good idea for your spreadable cheese, Manchego for more of a hard cheese and finally our semi-soft option was a new cheese for us, a most delicious Pecorino Tartufe from Murray’s. If you’re keeping count that’s one cow’s milk cheese, 1 goat’s milk, and 2 sheep’s milk cheeses. I’ve had a particular affinity for sheep’s cheeses since last year, with Manchego and Pecorino always in our cheese drawer, and the Pecorino Tartufe cubed beautifully.
I loved adding some of our fresh mint flowers onto the herb and garlic chevre (plus they are edible like all flowers in the mint family). I also found the most gorgeous sterling roses for my small Grecian Bust Pot from Anthropologie. I went with the smaller version because it fits better with the decor in my space, but both the large and small versions would look beautiful on a mantel.
Finally, we finished off the board with Carmalized Walnuts (Mitica), Genoa Salami, and two cracker choices, my favorite rosemary wafer crisps from 34 Degrees, and the Classico Taralli Crackers also from Mitica.
