When planning a trip to the Carolina coast, it’s important to pack plenty of dresses made of flowy, breathable fabrics, and of course a comfortable pair of shoes or two. When I saw this gorgeous blue and white floral dress on Amazon a few months back, I immediately knew it would be the perfect option for our trip and exactly what shoes I would wear it with, The City Sandal by Margaux.
If you’re petite (I’m 5’3″) you’ll definitely want to wear shoes with at least a 2 inch heel, The City Sandal from Margaux has a 2.5 inch heel, as this dress falls just below my ankles which is exactly how you want a maxi dress to fit. At under $50 dollars, I’d definitely consider this dress is a must buy. I’m wearing a Small/Medium here for reference and general wear a size 0/XS, but the dress is only currently available in a medium.
About The City Sandal
No matter what your plans are for the day, The City Sandal has just the right height for walking around in absolute comfort. The shoe features an embossed calf leather upper and leather lining, 5mm of plush foam padding for added comfort and with the 2.5 inch heel, it gives you just the right amount of height.
Sizing
As far as fit I found that my normal size (6 US/36 EU) in Medium fit true to size but it’s worth asking one of the shoe experts that are available in the chat box (or scheduling a virtual appointment) to make sure you’re ordering the correct size for you. Also, with free shipping and returns you don’t have to worry about it if the fit isn’t perfect, just sent them back and order another size!
As far as accessories, I opted for my favorite pearl drop necklace from Spartina 449, my constant go to Drop Pearl Earrings from black owned brand, CoCo Made with Love, the Cream Packable Sunhat from Tuckernuck, and of course my favorite pair of cat-eye sunglasses from Anthropologie. While you can easily pair this look with simple gold accessories, I definitely enjoy adding pearls to my look for a more feminine, classic aesthetic.
About the Brand
I first heard about the female owned brand, Margaux a few years back through a few of my fellow bloggers. I’m sure you’ve seen so posts on Instagram where influencers have styled one of their signature ballet flats (The Classic, The Demi, The Pointe). Alexa Buckley and Sarah Pierson co-founded Margaux in 2015 with the mission to create beautiful crafted shoes with a classic style that would meet the demands of the modern woman. They also redefined the ways shoes are sized and sold, offering their shoes in three widths: narrow, medium, wide. For those who are curious about which of those categories I fall into… for The Heel I’m definitely a narrow, but for all other shoes the medium is the perfect fit for me.
